from http://www.torontosun.com  – Pornographic provocateurs Hustler magazine are on the hot seat – again.

This time, the taste-defying skin mag’s latest issue features a topless model wearing the American flag turned into a hijab.

But in these politically correct times, Hustler has a message beneath the sultry model: “Freedom First.”

Hustler founder Larry Flynt – long an advocate for freedom of speech – is loathed equally by feminists and the Christian right.

From the Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas, the breakout star explains his preference for licensing deals over ownership, and how he avoids lawsuits.

from www.campaignlive.com – The adult entertainment industry has created hundreds of “stars,” but only a few true icons. Of those icons, none have topped Ron Jeremy for sheer staying power on the pop culture landscape.

From his 1979 debut in the adult film “Tigresses and Other Man-eaters” (maybe don’t Google it at work), the former special education school teacher from Brooklyn had a presence that made him stand out. By the mid-80s, Hollywood and other industries had begun to notice.

from mynewsla.com – A porn actress is being sued by a producer and an actor who allege they suffered “shame, mortification and hurt feelings” when she defamed them by saying she was sexually assaulted during a film shoot.

The case centers on two days of filming in December. On the first day, according to the lawsuit, actress Nikki Benz had sex with another woman. But the supposed assault issue was raised after the second day when she was supposed to have sex with a male actor.

Producer Abraham Ismail, known as Tony T, and actor Ramon Fernandez, known professionally as Ramon Nomar, filed the suit in Los Angeles Superior Court against Benz, who could not be reached for comment.

www.eastbaytimes.com – WHAT ARE THE ADS ABOUT? A pair of television ads are airing in support of Proposition 60, which would require adult film performers to use condoms during the filming of sexual intercourse.

WHO IS FUNDING THE ADS? The AIDS Healthcare Foundation, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit that has advocated for condom mandates for the porn industry, including one approved by Los Angeles County voters in 2012. Founded by longtime AIDS activist Michael Weinstein, the foundation has collected more than $4.6 million for the campaign, eclipsing opponents, who have raised $535,000.

Prop. 60 Isn’t Needed to Protect Porn Actors

NoProp60www.sacbee.com – There’s good reason Proposition 60 has been opposed by the editorial boards of seven of California’s largest newspapers, as well as the California Democratic, Republican and Libertarian parties: It’s a badly written and dangerous initiative.

The proponents of Proposition 60 claim that it is a simple workplace safety measure that would protect adult performers.

Yet Proposition 60 would supersede Cal/OSHA, the regulatory agency that actually handles workplace safety and that is working with performers on updated regulations.

New Documentary: ‘I’m a Porn Star: Gay4Pay’

gay4paywww.ebar.com – Actor/filmmaker Charlie David, best known for his work in gay independent cinema, takes on a fascinating, sometimes controversial subject in a new hour-long documentary. In I’m a Porn Star: Gay4Pay, David chats with guys who identity as straight but are willing to have sex with men, including performing as bottoms, on camera for money. The filmmaker also interviews gay-identified performers, who say they have no problem working with straight guys. It’s a job, after all.

“There is such intrigue and interest into what the real sexuality of these performers is,” David told us, explaining what drew him to the project. “Our society still has this insane urge to label each other in every conceivable way. It’s completely reductive and often destructive. With this documentary I knew the expectation of many viewers would be to reveal all these straight guys doing porn as closet cases. I’m more interested to provoke the audience to reflect on why this is happening and what are the ramifications of having straight producers, directors and performers creating fantasy material for gay men.”

FSC: Los Angeles County Democratic Party Officially Opposes Proposition 60, The Adult Film Initiative

September 20th, 2016 Comments off

NoProp60The Los Angeles County Democratic Party, the largest local Democratic Party in the United States, has officially opposed Proposition 60, a statewide ballot initiative that would allow any resident of California to sue adult performers who make films where a condom isn’t visible. The LACDP joins the California Democratic Party, the San Francisco Democratic Party and numerous other political parties and local clubs in opposing the controversial measure.

“This endorsement is an important victory for adult performers, and the No on 60 campaign,” says Eric Paul Leue, Executive Director of the Free Speech Coalition. “Los Angeles County is the home for many in the adult performer community. Proposition 60 is a misleading, dangerous initiative that will result in adult performers being targeted and harassed by a digital mob. This is why thousands of adult performers and advocates, and even some of those who supported Los Angeles’ Measure B, have come out against Proposition 60.”

Bitcoin Is Gaining Traction Among VR Porn Studios

Bitcoin

themerkle.com – Getting Bitcoin into the hands of as many people as possible is still the ultimate goal. To do so, use cases for cryptocurrency will need to be established. That number of use cases has grown throughout the years, yet mainstream Bitcoin adoption is still small. That is not deterring VR porn studios from experimenting with Bitcoin payments, though.

While it remains to be seen how mainstream VR porn will become in the coming years, it is an exciting market. Not just for the content mind you, but the adult industry has a global reach and appeal. Just because it is now in Virtual Reality does not mean adult content will become less popular all of a sudden. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise anyone if it became even more popular.

Prop. 60: Don’t Over Regulate Porn Industry, Weinstein’s Solution “Excessive”

September 14th, 2016 Comments off

Follow us on Twitter @PornValleyMedia – Send email to: ContactPVM@aol.com

NoProp60www.sandiegouniontribune.com – Proposition 60 would mandate the use of condoms by the adult film industry in California and would require that the producers of pornography, not the performers, bear the cost of regular testing for sexually transmitted diseases.

The lead sponsor of the proposition — Michael Weinstein of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation — says the state isn’t doing enough to enforce a 1992 law that already requires condom use. But his solution is excessive. It would allow anyone to sue the producer of an adult film that didn’t follow condom rules if the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health fails to act on a complaint within 21 days. Plaintiffs could get a cut of the legal judgment if victorious. Critics liken this to “digital mob” justice and say the idea that this would limit worker exploitation is dubious given that performers increasingly are their own producers.

tea-room-theatre-x750advocate.com – Some are saying “it’s the end of the era” now that San Francisco’s Tea Room Theatre is closing its doors for good this weekend.

The Tea Room, which shows pornographic movies and features live performances, opened in the early 1980s. A fixture in the rough-and-tumble Tenderloin district, the Tea Room has fallen victim to hook-up apps like Grindr and Scruff.

Tea Room employee Steve Angeles told the Bay Area Reporter the theatre “doesn’t make any money” and lamented the high rent; San Francisco rents are typically some of the highest in the nation.

Jason Galanis

www.reuters.com – A man once dubbed “Porn’s New King” before he was accused of stock fraud was hit on Wednesday with new criminal charges over an alleged scheme to cheat investors and a Native American tribe out of tens of millions of dollars.

U.S. authorities said Jason Galanis enlisted his father, John, and five others to defraud clients who invested more than $43 million in illiquid, sham bonds issued in 2014 and 2015 by the Wakpamni Lake Community Corp, an affiliate of the Oglala Sioux Nation in South Dakota.

Rather than invest proceeds to provide capital for the tribe and make payments to bondholders, Jason Galanis, of Los Angeles, and his accomplices spent the money on other investments, support for a technology company’s initial public offering, and luxury goods at retailers such as Gucci and Prada, authorities said.

Porn’s Pay Scale: What Everyone Gets Paid

zvividMoney1PVM’s Editor’s Note: Take these figures with a grain of salt.

CNBC.com – There’s a well-worn porn cliche about the college student-turned-actress who decided to have sex in front of a camera in order to pay off her student loans. Like many cliches, it’s rarely true — but it’s worth wondering: How big are paychecks in the porn business, anyway?

Money is a topic that’s shrouded in mystery in the adult entertainment world. While it’s widely presumed to be a multibillion dollar industry, there’s no real firm accounting to back that up. Companies regularly inflate their numbers when speaking publicly and may deflate them at opportune times as well. The same is true of performers.

The median household income for the United States was $53,657 in 2014 (the most recent data available), according to a Census Bureau survey. While that report breaks down average salaries among several careers, there is no data about adult performers.

courtforbes.com – In October, MindGeek found itself on the opposite end of two lawsuits, each making the same basic allegation. The company, which owns eight of the 10 biggest porn sites on the Internet, filed a complaint against WGCZ S.R.O., the parent company of porn tube sites XVideos and XNXX. According to trade site XBiz, MindGeek claims “tens or hundreds of thousands” of its videos have been illegally hosted on XVideos and XNXX, which have been viewed in aggregate more than 100 million times. MindGeek claims WGCZ S.R.O. failed to respond to any of its DMCA requests to remove the videos and is demanding $150,000 for each of its videos hosted on the competitors tube sites.

virtualmarketwatch.com – Your eyes open to a beautiful woman, scantily clad in red lace lingerie. She bats her eyes flirtatiously, then slowly makes her way over to you.

But this is not a flesh-and-blood woman; it’s a three-dimensional performer in a 360-degree immersive video so convincing you can barely tell the difference. In virtual reality, as nowhere else, donning a pair of clunky goggles allows you to pursue your wildest sexual fantasies.

For virtual reality to become a viable business, pornography, which tends to rank among any new technology’s earliest and most eager adopters, will need to play a starring role, analysts say.

foxbusiness.com – As Greece reaches a crisis of epic proportions, many Europeans are looking to put their money elsewhere. In addition to commodities and other government-issued currencies, bitcoin is seeing an uptick in volume.

“Volumes in the last 48 hours have been about 300% higher than they have been,” said Fred Ehrsam, co-founder of Coinbase, about bitcoin transactions in Europe this week. They are “becoming aware of what it really means to have money in their bank account.”

The value of bitcoin is up over 10% since Friday, according to the NYSE Bitcoin Index. One bitcoin was valued at $266.24 dollars on Tuesday.

Anthony Watson, CEO of Bitreserve, has seen “a lot of activity around the Euro” on their financial platform this week. In addition to digital currency, people are looking at other fiat currencies, gold, oil and even investing in cell phone minutes through Bitreserve.

A Porn Star on How Her Vagina will Fund Early Retirement

pornshootmancunianmatters.co.uk – It is simply a way to make money for her family and retire early through the sale of a ‘valuable commodity’ – her vagina.

Finding stories about the unfortunate and sometimes harrowing lives of sex workers is an easy thing to do whether it’s on the internet, on TV or in the papers.

And to combat this negative view of the industry – one that often leads to the men and women involved being stereotyped as enslaved, impoverished and therefore weak – the media have recently shifted focus to the porn stars who just really love sex.

Even though the life of an adult performer is not always sunshine and daisies or as simple as stripping down to nothing, it’s not always the case that they have a horrific backstory.

Bitcoin

cointelegraph.com – The influx of new digital technology is drastically changing how users seek entertainment – and how they pay for it, a trend which shows no sign of slowing.

Over the past 15 years the internet has increased ease of paying for entertainment services and allowed for diversification of subscriptions catering to users’ needs. In 2015, however, a further shift is underway in customer habits, one in which Bitcoin is already carving a niche.

Each to their own

While previously it was the norm that professional TV and online entertainment services were paid for in bulk via a subscription, new research suggests the ability to pick and choose not only individual services but individual sessions, paying only for the exact material required, is what the consumer will be demanding in future.
